Winter here in the South Hams is generally mild & is a beautiful setting all year round for weddings & events so I was delighted to style some tables for Hatch Marquees outside the Cliff House in Salcombe to brighten a January day.
The coastal centrepiece is a mixture of grey & verdigris painted lanterns, potted succulents and silver foliage with a scattering of shells, pebbles & driftwood. The runner is hand-dyed grey muslin. As an alternative to flowers, this coastal design would look lovely with dried grasses and/or seed heads.
The place settings are enhanced with linen napkins, hand-dyed silk ribbons & watercoloured rag-paper stationery. Anyone collecting a few pebbles or shells from the local beach for decoration should return them after the event so no harm is done. The recycled glassware is the perfect tone for a coastal theme, while also being environmentally friendly. Perfect!
